What we offer:
The Child and Family Wellbeing Service (CFWS) is an early intervention program provided by TeamHEALTH, aimed at supporting children and young people aged 0–18 years who are exhibiting early signs of, or are at risk of developing, mental health concerns. This service is available in the Katherine and Big Rivers Region in the Northern Territory.
- Tailored interventions based on the unique needs, strengths, and preferences of each child and their family.
- Collaborative development of actionable plans aimed at enhancing mental health and wellbeing goals for the child or young person.
- Support provided in various settings, including the child's home, school, parks, or other community spaces where the young person feels comfortable.
- Ensuring accessible and culturally appropriate support for families in the outlined communities.
CFWS welcomes all individuals, regardless of age, gender, race, ability, sexual orientation, faith, religion, or any other identity, fostering an inclusive and supportive atmosphere.
Eligibility
- Children and young people aged 0–18 years who are exhibiting early signs of, or are at risk of developing, mental health concerns.
- Families seeking support to enhance their child’s or young person’s mental health and wellbeing.
Our Groups & Programs
Child & Family Intensive Support Program (CaFIS)
The Child and Family Intensive Support Program (CaFIS) is funded by the Australian Department of Social Services and conducted in collaboration with Kalano Community Association. This program is operational across a diverse array of locations, encompassing Katherine, Rockhole, Binjari, Kalano, Walpiri, George Camp, Beswick, Barunga, Mataranka and Jilkmingann.
CaFIS is dedicated to deliver early intervention and prevention support to families and their children between the ages of 0-18. Its core mission is to provide comprehensive assistance to families grappling with complex needs to foster the health, safety and wellbeing of children and young adults.
Resilient Children's Mental Health Program
Our Resilient Children's Mental Health Program is designed to empower students with the knowledge and skills to understand, manage, and advocate for mental well-being. Delivered in schools, these workshops focus on building resilience, promoting positive self-talk, and encouraging help-seeking behaviours.
This program is proudly funded through the Smith Family, in partnership with Mind Blank.
School Holiday Activities
During school holidays, the Child and Family Wellbeing team at TeamHEALTH offers engaging activities for children and their families. These programs provide opportunities for fun, learning, and connection, supporting the mental and emotional wellbeing of young people in a safe and inclusive environment.
Activities vary by location and may include workshops, outdoor play, and community events.

Workshops
The Child and Family Wellbeing team at TeamHEALTH offers tailored workshops for schools upon request, focusing on mental health education and wellbeing for primary, middle, and secondary school students to decrease stigma and increase help-seeking behaviours.
