It's International Men's Health Week

International Men’s Health Week is celebrated every year around the world in the middle of June. The theme for 2019 is ‘Keeping Boys and Men Healthy’ and provides the perfect opportunity to talk about what can be done to improve the lives and health of men and boys.

Improving men’s health is a two-way process and involves men, women, families and health services all working together to create an environment that support men and boys accessing healthcare and assist health services to treat men and boys effectively. It is important that these services are used to preventatively manage their health and find out before it’s too late if problems exist. But equally, health services need to reach out to, communicate with and engage with men and families to be effective in helping them when they do come through the door.

Last year, the Australian Men’s Health Forum launched the #KnowYourManFacts campaign to create awareness of how men’s health is shaped by social as well as individual factors. You can find more information and updated facts here: https://www.amhf.org.au/knowyourmanfacts
