HEADS UP! Youth Forum: Get inspired, become empowered and achieve your dreams

NT Youth Services, young achievers and young Territorians will come together to engage, enthuse and empower each other to reach their goals and aspirations, in aid of bettering mental health and wellbeing for Youth in the NT.

Sacha King, Youth Mental Health Educator at TeamHEALTH, said that she is pleased to be running the HEADS UP! Youth Forum again this year as it presents such a great opportunity for young people in the NT to learn from like-minded young achievers in the Territory.

“Last year was such a successful day, it was great to see so many people networking and engaging as a group. This year’s event theme is 'Using your strengths and unleashing the entrepreneur.'  The aim of the youth forum is to empower youth to create change in the community, be leaders by identifying their strengths to unleash their potential to achieve great things.

The day will be filled with inspirational talks and workshops to enhance young people's mental health and wellbeing by improving their skills, friendships and sense of community. When they walk away we hope they create more projects and spread more positivity and wellbeing into the wider community.” Said Sacha.

HEADS UP! Youth Forum will showcase some of the Territory’s young achievers and entrepreneurs. Serina Pech, local singer/songwriter from Katherine and finalist in the 2015 NT Song of the Year awards, will be speaking and performing along with other inspirational speakers including Avon Collis, Jessie Spargo, Kerryn Luby and Sian Howell.

Mental health and Wellbeing is a key driving factor for this forum as statistics show that at least one third of young people experience an episode of mental illness by the time they are 25 years old, and we know that youth suicide rates in our community are high.

“The reasons for suicide are complex, but suicide is preventable; building social connections and networks is a good place to start in suicide prevention.” Said Sacha.

HEADS UP! Youth Forum 2017 is a full day event for young people aged 15-25 years. Tickets are $30 and food will be provided. Registrations are required.
