TEAMhealth - Changing lives everyday through the Day to Day Living Program

Jonathan, a TEAMHealth participant, said that he found out about Day to Day living (D2DL) while living at Papaya, The Sub-Acute Care program provided by TeamHEALTH that provides individualised, intensive support to individuals that are becoming unwell.

“Here I use the computers and sometimes bring my laptop, I like playing games online, listening to music and watching tutorials on programs that I have; it expands my mind,” Jonathan said.

“The computer activities are an independence thing, in other words they (the D2DL Team) teach you independence.”

“They support you so that you are not afraid of trying new things, like using computers, and they help you to discover what you are keen on, all by yourself,” he said.

“There is always help close by,” Jonathan said.

The Day to Day Living program (D2DL) provided by TeamHEALTH is a structured and socially based activity program that provides support for day to day living in the community.

The program consists of a drop-in service, support groups and group work training in a psychosocial rehabilitation framework.

It is designed to assist people to relearn skills with a view of obtaining employment.

“When I first started at D2DL, I was trying to search for work online, but it didn’t go as planned for me.”

“I decided to apply for university and I am now doing my assignments on my days off from lectures here at D2DL,” Jonathan said.

“In all, the D2DL computer classes, and other reasons, like the kind workers, food and gym that's supplied (kind-heartedly), have helped me to make good decisions and to live a full life.”

“I'm happy! And University is a great stepping stone for me.”

“I know that D2DL will always welcome me with open arms should I ever need it,” Jonathan said.

The Day to Day Living program (D2DL) is open Monday to Friday, 9.30am to 3.00pm.

Drop in hours are Monday to Friday 1.00pm to 3.00pm.

To be eligible for the program a person must be 16 years of age and over, with a diagnosed mental illness.

Referrals for the program are accepted from any source.
