Mental Health Recovery Worker, Gunbalanya

The Child and Family Wellbeing Service and PSP Remote teams support children and young people who are showing early signs of, or are at risk of, mental health difficulties. Our goal is to improve their wellbeing and help them take part fully in their communities.

What we aim to achieve:

  • Better emotional health and wellbeing for children and young people.
  • Children and young people better able to manage different parts of their lives.
  • Families and carers supported to help their children and young people.
  • Communities with a better understanding of, and response to, mental health issues affecting children and young people.

About the role

Reporting to the Program Manager, the Mental Health Recovery Worker will be based in Gunbalanya, delivering strength-based case management and activities to children, young people and families. The role also includes outreach support to help develop and carry out Family Action Plans with participants.

Support is provided both at the centre and out in the community, and is:

  • Person-centred and recovery-focused
  • Built on people's strengths
  • Timely
  • Culturally appropriate

You will help build strong referral pathways into and out of the service, so that vulnerable children, young people and families who might not otherwise reach out for help can access support. You'll also help deliver education and training to build awareness of mental health within the program and the wider community.

About you

We are searching for an enthusiastic and engaging person who can run group sessions while also managing an individual caseload. You will need to motivate and support participants, build a positive group environment, and give consistent, individual attention to the people on your caseload.
