Coordinator, Residential Services

TeamHEALTH has become the leading not for profit provider of mental health services in the Top End of the Northern Territory, providing outreach services, support and advocacy for Territorians with mental illness for over 30 years.

The Residential Services Program aims to provide increased opportunities for recovery for people whose lives are severely affected by mental illness. The aim is to support recovery, reduce social isolation and improve independent living and employment outcomes. The Residential Services Program uses a strengths-based, person centred approach and provides intensive one-to-one support by providing:

  • access to appropriate support services at the right time;
  • individual skills development;
  • personal capacity, confidence and self-reliance;
  • increased social and community participation, and;
  • the ability to manage daily activities

Reporting to the Program Manager, the Coordinator provides leadership and day to day management of the designated Residential facilities. The Coordinator will play a key role in supporting, mentoring and training Workers working in the residential programs to build capacity and capabilities in the provision of a culturally appropriate, strengths-based approach to participants.

The Coordinator must be willing to work across all Residential Programs as required and participate on a rostered basis for on call. Working largely unsupervised, the Coordinator will be responsible for developing and delivering collaborative partnerships which assist participants to access appropriate support services. They will also be responsible for identifying gaps in services for their participants and making recommendations on methods/strategies by which these gaps can be addressed.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL NEED:

  • Tertiary or Diploma level qualification in a relevant health or welfare discipline.
  • Demonstrated skills and application of delivering strength-based strategies to people with acute mental illness.
  • Excellent knowledge of the NDIS and how mental health fits into and how supports are provided to participants.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with key stakeholders including clinical services, participants, carers, community services and government departments.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse and exercise good judgment in problem solving.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach and develop staff to ensure they perform and reach their full potential

The successful applicant will be required to have a current National Police Certificate, NDIS Worker Screening Clearance, NT Driver’s License and completed the NDIS Worker Screen and Orientation Module.
