Join Our Board – Make a Difference in Mental Health
TeamHEALTH is a for-purpose community mental health organisation that has been supporting people on their mental health journeys for over 35 years. TeamHEALTH seeks to create community capacity for good mental health so that all people may lead a full and valued life.
TeamHEALTH is seeking passionate and skilled individuals to join our Board as voluntary Board Members.
Position: Board Members
Board Members contribute their expertise and judgement to guide TeamHEALTH’s strategic direction, governance, and sustainability. As part of a diverse and skilled Board, members ensure the organisation delivers quality mental health services while upholding accountability and community trust.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute actively to Board discussions, bringing independent judgement and expertise.
- Ensure compliance with TeamHEALTH’s constitution, legal, and regulatory requirements.
- Support and monitor the organisation’s strategy, performance, and risk management.
- Act as an ambassador for TeamHEALTH within the community and networks.
- Uphold high ethical standards, integrity, and commitment to TeamHEALTH’s values.
- Actively participate in meetings, committees and working groups as required.
Selection criteria
- Experience in governance, management, or leadership within the health, community, government, or business sectors
- Strong understanding of governance responsibilities for not-for-profit organisations.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- A contextual understanding of, and commitment to, improving mental health outcomes and community wellbeing in the Northern Territory.
- Expertise in one or more of the following areas: legal/regulatory, IT/cybersecurity, marketing/media, fundraising/philanthropy, finance/accounting, government, community housing/building development, human resources, First Nations, policy/research, mental health (including lived experience).
- Prior Board or committee experience is desirable but not essential.

Role Details
This is a voluntary role. Expected time commitment is attendance at 5 Board Meetings and 1 Annual General Meeting (AGM) each year, including preparation and representation (in Darwin or virtually).
