Sub Acute Care
The Sub Acute Program (Papaya) provides intensive individualised support to people who are becoming unwell. It aims to reduce hospital admission (step up) and improve the likelihood of early discharge (step down) from Cowdy Ward at Royal Darwin Hospital.
Referrals are only accepted by Top End Mental Health Services (TEMHS). To be eligible for the program, people must be 16-64yrs. A person is also required to have an allocated Case Manager from TEMHS. Homelessness or significant alcohol and other drug issues may affect a person’s acceptance into the program. The program focuses on support for people living in the urban and rural areas of Darwin.
