History
TEAMhealth has been providing services to people with a mental illness in the Northern Territory since 1987. It was established in 1987 by a group of concerned relatives of people with mental illness who wished to provide a stable, safe accommodation option for their family member. A long term residential program was established in Parap at “the Manse”. This service is still there today and is staffed 24 hours per day, 7 days a week, providing support to people with complex needs who are not able to live independently.
TEAMhealth’s services grew throughout the 1990s with the acquisition of funds to provide outreach, training and family support programs to people in the Darwin area. Further housing options were also developed through its Community Housing Program and long term supported accommodation programs.
Since 2004 TEAMhealth has developed its services further and now provides a range of services to individuals, families and carers. Services assist people with very low needs to those with intensive high needs, from sub acute alternatives to hospital to one on one support for people in remote Indigenous communities.
TEAMhealth now provides:
- a range of housing choices in Darwin to some 50 families and individuals in shared,
single occupancy and group living situations; - drop in and recreational/social programs;
- education and early intervention;
- youth, family and individual programs;
- respite options;
- in home based programs;
- aged care services.
