Day to Day Living Program

The Day to Day Living program provides support for day to day living in the community for people with servere and persistent mental illness who experience social isolation. It is a structured, social, activity based program. The program consists of a drop-in service, support groups and training delivered through a recovery focused framework.

What support will I receive from the Day to Day Living Program?

The program will provide you, or the person that you care for, with the support to:

  • increase your individual ability to participate in social, recreational and educational activities
  • improve quality of life, to create an optimal level of independence in the community
  • develop new skills and/or relearn old skills
  • develop social networks
  • participate in community activities
  • develop confidence
  • accomplish personal goals

What types of activities does the Day to Day Living program provide?

The program provides a wide range of activities, which are based on particiapnt needs. These activities include, but are not limited to:

  • cooking classes
  • bushwalking and gym/yoga classes
  • arts, such as drama, drawing, pottery, creative writing, painting classes
  • vocational activities such as volunteering groups, return to work skill development groups, computer classes, trips to local TAFEs and neighbourhood houses to explore study options
  • social outings

Where is this service provided?

The Day to Day Living (D2DL) program is based at the Rapid Creek Business Village. Opening hours are 9:30am - 3:00pm, Monday to Friday.

Who is the service available to?

Our program is available to individuals whose ability to manage their daily activities and to live independently in the community is impacted as a result of mental illness. A person does not need to have a formalised clinical diagnosis of mental illness to initially access the program. Referrals are accepted from any source.
